Face Lift

The facelift is a popular and effective way to address facial wrinkles, lines, and the sagging excess facial skin that tends to develop as we age. By tightening and lifting the skin, Dr. Newton can smooth facial wrinkles and lines while also correcting for drooping, loose skin along the jaw, neck, and brow. The final result of a facelift is smoother, tighter skin and a more youthful appearance. Patients who want to achieve more comprehensive facial rejuvenation can combine facelift with laser skin renewal, eyelid surgery, or lip augmentation.

The Procedure

A traditional facelift requires an incision hidden behind the hairline, through which facial muscles and the facial skin are tightened. Excess skin and tissue are trimmed away, and the incision is closed. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Newton, performs facelift using the MACS (minimal access cranial suspension) method. This method offers many noteworthy benefits that make it potentially ideal for Dr. Newton’s Newcastle-area patients. The MACS facelift is significantly less invasive than a traditional facelift. Dr. Newton performs the operation through a short incision through which he tightens the skin using permanent sutures. Both the surgery itself and the recovery period are shorter, and there are fewer potential side effects. The final results are refined and natural looking.

Cheek Lift

The cheek lift, or mid-face lift, is a localized facelift procedure designed to correct drooping or hollow-looking cheeks by repositioning the pad of the cheek, which may descend over time. The procedure is most effective for those without significant drooping in the lower face and neck.

For those who do not need or do not want a full facelift but still want to correct wrinkles and drooping skin in the forehead and brow, a brow lift may be the answer. Patients with a hooded, drooping brow and frown lines in the forehead typically benefit tremendously from this procedure.

The brow lift is less involved than a full facelift, with smaller incisions made behind the hairline, through which the skin is lifted and tightened. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Patients are generally able to return to work after two or three weeks, though full recovery may take as long as three months.
